boAt uses four different reset designs, and on some Airdopes the five-second hold everyone repeats only powers them off. The right steps per model.
Before you start
1Get the full model name, including the suffix
boAt sells Airdopes 121 Pro, 121 Pro Plus and 121 V2, but no plain Airdopes 121. The same is true of 191 which is sold as 191 ANC, of 311 which is sold as 311 Pro or Plus 311, and of Prime which is a range of numbered models. Listings often shorten these. Find the exact name on the case or the box, because the procedures genuinely differ between them.
2Try the app first if your model supports it
On newer Airdopes the boAt Hearables app has a reset built in, under the troubleshooting question mark as Reset My Device. It is more reliable than a timed hold because the app knows the model. If your buds still connect to the app at all, start here.
3Case-button models β hold the button inside the case for 10 seconds
Airdopes 800, Supreme, 191 ANC, Ultra Pro, Ultra Plus and Prime 512 all work this way. Put both buds in the case the right way round, leave the lid open, and press and hold the reset button inside the case for 10 seconds. Confirmation is usually the red LEDs flashing about five times on the buds and on the case, though the exact colours vary by model. Airdopes 141 Gen 2 is the same design but 5 seconds, not 10.
4Tap-count models β no holding at all
Airdopes 131 and Airdopes 141 do not use a hold. Take both buds out of the case and put them in pairing mode. On the 131, triple-tap the multi-function button rapidly within 2 seconds on one earbud, then repeat on the other. On the 141, tap the touch control five times on both earbuds. A solid red LED for about 2 seconds, then off, means it worked. Put them back in the case afterwards.
5Touch-hold models β and the step almost everyone stops before
Airdopes 161, 121 Pro, 121 Pro Plus, 311 Pro and Plus 311 use a 5-second hold on both touch controls with the buds OUT of the case. Read this part carefully: that hold is documented by boAt as the manual power-off gesture. You must then put both buds back into the case, close the lid, wait about 5 seconds, take them out and connect fresh. boAt says it plainly on the Plus 311 page β to complete the factory reset, all of the above steps should be performed.
6Pair fresh once both buds are awake
Forget the old entry in your phone Bluetooth list first, then take both buds out of the case together and let them find each other before you pair. If only one side ever appears, repeat the reset rather than pairing the single bud on its own.
Get the parts for this repair
boAt says my Airdopes 141 resets automatically. Which is true?
Both, from boAt. Their support page describes a manual five-tap reset, while their own manual for the 141 says the model has an auto-reset feature and that a manual factory reset is not required, resetting every time the lid is opened with the buds inside. Try opening and closing the case first, and use the five-tap method only if that does not clear the pairing.
What about the Airdopes 131 Pro?
We deliberately do not publish a hold time for it. The same boAt support page gives 5 seconds in one place and 10 seconds in another, with different LED results. Hold the case button until the case LED flashes and let the light tell you, rather than trusting either number.
I held for 5 seconds and my earbuds went silent. Did I break them?
No, you almost certainly powered them off. On several Airdopes models that hold is the power-off gesture. Put them back in the case, close the lid, wait a few seconds and take them out again. They should wake up and go into pairing mode.
Where do these procedures come from?
boAt own support site at support.boat-lifestyle.com, read per model, and boAt published Manual Setup Guide PDFs linked from their product pages. Where the two disagree, which happens on the 141 and 161, we have said so above instead of picking one.
I only replaced one earbud. Does this still work?
Yes, and you need both buds present. Every boAt procedure resets the pair so the two buds rebuild their link to each other. A single bud reset on its own cannot adopt a partner.
